Manual Tasks
Manual tasks encompass a wide range of activities… that involves the use of force for lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining any person, animal or item
It includes repetitive tasks such as packing, typing, cleaning, chopping, sorting, using hand-tools and operating machinery. The term is not limited to handling heavy objects – using a keyboard or carrying a wine bottle is an example of manual handling.
Manual tasks have been identified as one of the key high risk hazards in all workplaces. At all times, when undertaking manual tasks, ensure that you use the correct lifting techniques.
