Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment

Personal protective equipment and clothing is used to minimise exposure to risks associated with workplace hazards.

PPE as it is sometimes referred to, is the lowest in the order of control priorities in the Hierarchy of Control.

PPE should not be relied upon as the primary method to control risk, the other options higher in the list should be used first and PPE should be the last line of defence and used in conjunction with other controls when the risk of exposure is high.
